FAQs

What is WOOM’s motto?

We have many! But “sharing is caring” is high on the list.

What’s the difference between sharing wisdom and saying thanks?

For “share wisdom,” we are looking for anecdotes, sayings, musings and lessons from important women in your life. Basically, the quotables, in 20 words or less.

Say thanks” — a longer thank-you, expression of gratitude or story from you, to a woman who has impacted your life. Think of it as a love letter, in 200 words or less.

What happens when I “share wisdom”?

Shared wisdom is the inspiration for the blog, which we will write. We receive your expressions and research their historical and colloquial roots. Each selected submission becomes a short story, with the wisdom at its core. You will be contacted if your WOOM is selected.

What happens when I “say thanks”?

Selected tributes are published to our website as is. You will be contacted if your WOOM is selected.

Are all submissions used?

We hope to include as many submissions as possible, but do not guarantee that every wisdom or tribute will be published.

What are the criteria to be selected?

We’re going with heart, here. We’re looking for submissions that are genuine and reflect thoughtfulness.

What if my shared WOOM is sad or difficult?

We welcome all types of inspiration. If it resonates with you, it likely resonates with others.

How do I know if my WOOM has been selected?

If your “share wisdom” or “say thanks” is selected, we will contact you directly at the email you provided. Please do not contact us to check if your WOOM has been selected.

Is my name published?

No, we use only your first name and the first letter of your last name.

What is “collective authorship?”

The power of WOOM is that it’s the voice of all of us, not each of us. WOOM collective authorship is ageless, genderless and geographically boundless.

Can anyone write a WOOM?

YES! Just because we’re looking for the wisdom of women, doesn’t mean the contribution has to come from women!

How do I submit?

Submit wisdom here and say thanks here. If you’re on social media, tag WOOM inspirations #wearewoom @wearewoom

Does it have to be words that my mother said?

We mean “mother” in the broadest sense — grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins and best friends. The mothers of WOOM are all of the women who’ve nurtured us.

How often do you publish content?

We publish wisdom to our blog on a weekly basis. Say thanks is published as a tribute, as they are submitted. Inspirations @wearewoom and #wearewoom are being shared all the time!

Who are the creators of WOOM?

Sherri T. worked for 25 years in social policy, specifically on issues related to caregiving, poverty and inclusion — all to help build a more caring world.

Lisa T. worked in social innovation and with social change ideas for a decade before starting to freelance as a brand consultant. She’s hoping to build a more caring world too.

How do I get involved?

We’re not hiring (yet!) but feel free to submit your WOOM, subscribe to WOOM and join the community @wearewoom and tag your inspirations #wearewoom
