My sister is a smart, talented and independent woman. She is older and (probably) wiser than me. So imagine how surprised I was when we were talking one day about something very critical and she concluded her thought with the following: “WWMD?”

When my mother became very ill, she knew that her time was limited. I recall asking her one day how she was feeling. She replied: “I don’t buy green bananas.” With her days numbered, she likely would not be around long enough to see them ripen.

My mother would always look for the humor in any situation. That way, she felt she could handle anything, whether ¬it was funny or not. The other night when I was abruptly awakened from a sound sleep, I was digging deep to find the levity.
