Strength. Courage. Loyalty. Devotion.

ruth C.

Those are the words that best describe my sentiments when I think of my mom. She was the bravest women I ever knew.

Her wisdom gave her the ability to rise above tough struggles. She managed to find the good in every situation, which always astounded me, especially when I struggled to find an iota of goodness in tough times.

My mom gave me the confidence to use the abilities she knew I already possessed and to push them to a higher level, including my strength. I thank her for that. Her spirit gives me the strength I so often need for my own children and yes, my husband too.

What stands out most was her ability to remain strong for each of her seven children. She was our confidante and, selfishly, we would feel satisfied receiving direction and understanding from her. I say selfishly because it is only recently at age 60 that I can understand what she really gave to us – she lived for us.

I feel fortunate to have had her in my life for 25 years. She shaped my life in ways no other person could have done.

I miss my mom, forever in my heart.
